Before we even start writing about all the topics we want to cover in this blog with Kate, we decided we wanted to talk a bit about how we met, and how this long-distance friendship, led us to come up with this project.

As some of you already know, I started with Capachitos a few years ago. As a way to promote this illustration dream, I created lots of accounts in different social networks. One of these was Instagram. I started to follow all sorts of accounts related to the style of illustration I like. Most of these accounts were in Japan, Thailand and Philippines. One of these accounts was Kate’s, I realized she was also into illustration and she even had an appearance in a newspaper! 😮 *famous Kate alert*

I think I posted in her Instagram account a few times and she answered me back but I don’t think she remembers haha.

In one of these interactions through Instagram, we started talking about “Dulce de Leche” and “Manjar” hahaha *always food* And we started to keep a mini and very uncomfortable conversation in that tiny space on Instagram.xD May be that’s the reason we started to talk by e-mail.

I don’t remember who started to e-mail who, but each time one of us wrote an e-mail, the other one answered with a longest text. Each time we shared stuff, we realized how similar we were and that we had so much to share.

After this, came Whatsapp. I think that’s when our friendship became stronger. Through Whatsapp we shared videos, audios, pictures, family situations, etc. It all became more familiar and interactive. Much more fun too! 🙂 That’s when we started commenting on movies, tv shows, soap operas, the news, culture, even history of each of our countries, sayings, expressions, etc. We comment everything. hahaha

A few weeks ago, when we had already decided we were goit to make this blog, we had a meeting on Skype… which was very funny, emotional and a little crazy. ^^ That’s the only time we¡ve talked by using a webcam in real time.

Since that moment until now, I can say that Kate and I are very good friends. We have been supportive to each other in our difficult moments. Although we are so far, I’ve felt the support and company of her friendship until today.

Well, I hope this clarified a little how we met and how from that, we came to this!

Antes de partir con todos los temas que pensamos tratar en este blog con Kate, quisimos contar un poco cómo fue que nos conocimos y cómo esta amistad a la distancia, llevó a que se nos ocurriera crear este proyecto.

Como algunos ya saben, comencé con Capachitos hace unos años atrás. Como una manera de impulsar este sueño de ilustración, fue que creé cuentas en diferentes redes sociales. Una de ellas fue Instagram. Comencé a seguir a todas las cuentas que estaban relacionadas con el estilo de ilustración que me gusta. La mayoría de ellas eran cuentas de Japón, Tailandia y Filipinas.

Una de estas cuentas era la de Kate, me di cuenta que ella también dibujaba y hasta aparecía en un diario!

Creo que un par de veces le posteé que me gustaban sus dibujos, y me respondió y todo, pero no creo que se acuerde. Jaja

Después de eso le escribí por instagram una vez, en la que nos pusimos a hablar de “manjar” y “dulce de leche” jajaja *siempre comida* Y comenzamos a conversar incómodamente en instagram jaja. Creo que debe haber sido por eso que nos comenzamos a escribir por mail.

Kate escribió un correo graaaaande, y yo le respondía uno más grande aún. Creo que cada vez que nos contábamos más cosas, nos dábamos cuenta cuán parecidas éramos y que teníamos mucho que compartir.

Luego de eso, nos agregamos a whatsapp. Creo que ahí fue que nuestra amistad se hizo más fuerte aún. Por Whatsapp compartíamos videos, audios, fotos, situaciones de la familia, etc. Todo se hizo más cercano e interactivo. Mucho más entretenido J Ahí fue que comenzamos a comentar comedias de la tele, noticias, cultura, comparar historia de nuestros países, dichos, expresiones, etc. Lo comentamos todo aajajaja. Hace poco, cuando ya habíamos decidido que íbamos a hacer este blog, tuvimos una reunión por Skype… que fue muy chistosa, emotiva y medio loca. ^^ Y esa es la única vez que nos hemos visto x cámara en tiempo real.

Desde ese momento hasta ahora, puedo decir que Kate y yo somos muy buenas amigas. Nos hemos apoyado en momentos difíciles. Aunque estamos súper lejos, he sentido el apoyo de su amistad hasta el día de hoy.

Bueno, espero que eso haya clarificado un poco el cómo nos conocimos y cómo de eso, llegamos a esto!
